The “Diacon” is an efficient Jury cum Exhibition unit to cater to the textile department products and jury need. The brief was to design the in such a manner that the students can go through their jury examination with the least effort. The unit has elements that can be flat-packed and stored away when not in use. Secondly, the components are simple and is derived from four boards. (8’x4’). There is no use of any hardware or adhesive used in making or assembling the unit.
Process and Ideation models
Before the final prototype, ideation and iterations are mandatory. Variations lead to realisation of multitude of errors. Subsequently, many joinery systems are developed in the process. As the client requirements stated, equal amount of vertical and horizontal display is needed. Keeping all the constraints in mind and following the key principle of notching the final prototype is then laser cut.
